Micro-Needling & PRP

Micro-Needling Treatment

Check out our new micro-needling treatment featuring the Eclipse Micropen Elite.

What is Micro-Needling?

Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in improvement of the appearance of softer wrinkles. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels which can be used with topical gels, creams and serums to help improve the appearance of the skin. Eclipse MicroPen is the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market.

Using Human Growth Factor or your own platelet rich plasma, Micro-needling and PRP injections activate essential growth factors and signaling proteins in the skin to create a smooth, flawless complexion. It allows for topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the kin.

The benefits are the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture, smoother, softer, younger-looking skin! And, with PRP you use your own blood, to create biological, nutrient-rich cells, so there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction.

What are the benefits?

Benefits include:

  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Younger-looking skin & fewer signs of aging
  • Improves skin suffering from hyper-pigmentation
  • Improves acne scarring, traumatic scars and stretch marks
  • Creates a fresher appearance or glow to your skin

What areas of the body can I treat?

Eclipse MicroPen can be used on all parts of the body; Face, neck, decollete, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

How is the procedure done?

A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate setting based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.

What does it feel like?

The feeling associated with the Eclipse MicroPen is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin.

The total healing time depends on the Eclipse MicroPen setting used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. Utilizing the Eclipse Dermal Recovery System™, or other quality skincare products, provided by your skincare provider, can help to speed up the healing process.

When will I see the results?

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals.

PRP - Platelet Rich Plasma

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

This treatment involves the collection of a small amount of your blood, then your blood is spun down using a centrifuge to separate out the plasma and platelet portion. The PRP portion of your blood is then injected back into your skin to stimulate new collagen production, and to re-energise your cells into rejuvenating themselves. The product injected is 100% your own blood by product.

As part of the body’s healing ability, platelets and other components in human blood migrate to the point of care. Platelets are well known to release numerous growth factors that respond to tissue injury and initiate and promote the conditions for healing. The treatment, when paired with our micro-needling treatment, takes about 30 – 45 minutes.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are minimal because we use your own blood, to create biological, nutrient-rich cells. However you may likely experience mild to moderate swelling of the treated area, that may last for about 12 – 24 hours; ice or cold compresses can be applied to reduce swelling if required. You may notice a tingling sensation while the cells are being activated. In rare cases skin infection may occur, which is easily treated with an antibiotic.

What are the benefits?

Benefits include:

  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Younger-looking skin & fewer signs of aging
  • Improves skin suffering from hyper-pigmentation

PRP Hair Restoration

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a revolutionary treatment used to regenerate hair growth. PRP hair restoration is a non-surgical option that helps improve the thickness of a person’s hair, stimulate the growth of follicles and even prevent hair loss in men and women. The concentrated platelets and plasma contain proteins and growth factors which help increase the circulation to the hair follicles, stimulate the follicles to grow and even thicken the hair shaft.

PRP is autologous, it is 100% your own blood, so there is no danger of allergic or hypersensitivity reactions. PRP has long been used in orthopedics to promote cell growth and wound healing.

What to expect during the procedure:

A small amount of blood is taken and placed in a centrifuge which separates the blood’s platelets and plasma. After the plasma is prepared it is micro-needled and injected into the scalp where hair growth is desired. This allows for deep penetration into the skin where it stimulates the growth of the hair follicles. A local anesthetic is applied to the scalp to reduce pain and discomfort during the procedure. The treatment takes about 90 minutes.

What to expect after your treatment:

Recovery from PRP treatment is generally simple. Soreness and swelling of the scalp may be pronounced for up to 6 hours after treatment, though these symptoms generally resolve completely after 48 hours. Patients should refrain from vigorous physical activity until swelling has completely resolved.

What can you expect after your treatment:

Results can vary from Patient to patient, but improvements can be noticeable in as early as one-two months, though it may take around 5 months or more for results to become more pronounced.

A series of 3 treatments at 6 week intervals is recommended for rapid regrowth. Maintenance treatments may also be recommended at 6 months or 1 year.

PRP is a safe treatment for many patients with hair loss. However patient’s with active infection of the scalp, history of shingles on the scalp, diabetes, coagulation disease or on blood thinning and/or immunosuppressive medications are not good candidates for the treatment. Also if the hair follicles are entirely lost, the treatment will not work.
